Abstract

The Saint-Venant boundary region in an isotropic truncated semi-infinite elastic wedge is investigated by use of complex eigenfunctions. The eigenvalues give a measure of the decay lengths of the selfequilibrated boundary stresses. The eigenfunctions form a nonorthogonal set and their coefficients are evaluated by a least-squares approximation. The dependency of the decay lengths with wedge angle is shown numerically.
