Singular Integral Equation Solution for Torsion
Publication: Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division
Volume 96, Issue 4
Abstract
For a boundary value problem in elasticity with an arbitrary shape, an integral equation solution is one of the methods for which a single digital computer program with input data defining the boundary shape yields the stresses or displacements at any selected points. The resulting coefficient matrix of the solution presented herein will be shown to be relatively well-conditioned when the constant of integration is properly chosen. Consequently, an accurate result can be obtained for a torsion problem with an irregular shape.
