Abstract
To study the nonlinear effect of the irregular shape and slope of an open channel on the flow, it is suggested that the Brownian motion model to simulate the channel irregularity be used. The irregular shape and slope of a channel are considered to be determined by random walk paths of imaginary particles. The diffusion coefficient of these particles in (Brownian) motion is suggested as an indicator of the channel roughness.
