Abstract
The method of conformal mapping is extended to solve certain problems for plates with arbitrary shapes. The mapping function is found by interpolation between a finite number of points on the boundary of the given plate. It is shown that the computation involved in the presented approximate method is simple and straightforward. For plates which have smooth boundaries the method yields accurate solutions. Furthermore, the magnitude of the error in the final solution can be estimated as soon as the mapping function is obtained.
