Analysis of Laminated Shells of Revolution
Publication: Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division
Volume 92, Issue 6
Abstract
A finite-element method is presented for the static stress analysis of laminated orthotropic shells of revolution under arbitrary loads. The shell is approximated by a system of short conical frusta, and the stiffness for each element is derived by means of variational principles. Various problems were solved and comparison of these results with known analytical solutions shows extremely good correlation.
