Abstract
The accuracy of Moiré method depends on the number of fringes that define the displacement field of the model. Fringe density can be increased without using fine grids by introducing linear and rotational mismatches. Whereas the former increases the fringe number along sections perpendicular to the master grid, the latter increases the fringe number along sections parallel to the master grid. The singular points of Moiré patterns can always be avoided by a suitable choice of mismatches and the free state of the model is automatically preserved.
