Estimating Urban Trip Production And Attraction
Publication: Journal of the Highway Division
Volume 93, Issue 2
Abstract
Three methods of estimating zonal values of auto-trip production and attraction for the urban area of Raleigh, N. C. (population 124,000) were tested and evaluated. The methods utilized land-use and socioeconomic data as well as four sets of auto-trip data obtained by interviewing 4,387, 548, 274, and 137 dwelling units (DU). The estimates obtained by each method, using each set of trip data, were judged for accuracy by comparing them with the data from 4,387 DU. It was concluded that small home-interview samples can be used to estimate trips with sufficient accuracy for minor studies.
