Abstract
An evaluation is presented of pretreatment aspects, operation, and performance of the five currently existing domestic wastewater spray irrigation systems at U.S. Army reservations. All are viewed as operating successfully, posing no significant threat to water supply sources, and they are capable of complying with applicable state and Federal regulations and permits. Some systems were found to require supplemental disinfection and additional effluent or ground-water surveillance. A few significant problems identified at specific land treatment sites include: a buildup of soil salinity, soil saturation conditions, and electrical and drainage problems.
