Research Needs in Environmental Engineering in Water Resources, Water Treatment, Environmental Sanitation, and Air Pollution

In the April 1972 Journal of the Sanitary Engineering Division (Proc. Paper 8833), the first listing of research needs was published by this Committee. That publication covered the areas of municipal wastewater (six items) and solid wastes (eight items). The reader is referred to that paper for the background and philosophy of this Committee. In this publication, research needs are listed for the following areas: (1) water resources (11 items); (2) water treatment (eight items); (3) environmental sanitation (four items); and (4) air pollution (five items). The remaining subject area of the seven subdivisions of this Committee is industrial wastewater. The research needs in this area are currently being reviewed.
