Planning, Scheduling, and Communicating Effects on Crew Productivity
Publication: Journal of the Construction Division
Volume 108, Issue 1
Abstract
Construction project planning and scheduling along with communication of the plan have major impact on the productivity of field crews. Though the size of the impact is practically impossible to document, the cause-effect relationship has been revealed in recent productivity studies. It appears that construction managers are not recognizing their full responsibilities in establishing a framework for project teamwork in job planning and are not following through with good communication to foremen and tradesmen to promote true team spirit. Ways of improving these management shortfalls are suggested.
