An Operational Look at Airport Design

Abstract
The increase in aircraft speeds and operations led to serious problems in the control of airport traffic. The traffic controller has been subjected to a steadily increasing work load, despite the development of radar arrival and control equipment. Runways must be built with properly located and designed turnoffs to remove a landing aircraft as quickly as possible.
