Abstract
The supersonic transport plane will require coordination between the related government agencies, the manufacturers, the airlines, and the airports to permit it to operate for the convenience and comfort of the public. The design of the plane must allow it to operate from existing airports with no increase in the area of high takeoff noise. An elaborate system for reviewing manufacturers’ proposals and operators’ requirements has been established to assure the development of an aircraft that is economical and which does not increase the problems of traffic control, passenger and aircraft handling, and maintenance.
