Publication: Issues in Engineering: Journal of Professional Activities
Volume 108, Issue 2
Abstract
The engineering profession unity movement is reviewed, with a brief explanation of the reasons for forming the American Association of Engineering Societies. A brief historical background is followed by a discussion of the need for unity within the profession, the effects of federal regulations on engineering, how AAES is organized to help engineers work together in areas of common interest, and how concensus in the profession helps both engineers and the public. The specific goals of AAES are outlined and the future development plans of the Association are described which are designed to further the aims and purposes of the Association, eventually to reach the goals described.
