How NFMES Brings Minorities into Engineering

The National Fund for Minority Engineering Students makes four major contributions toward the minority engineering effort's goal of achieving enrollment parity for minorities in the freshman engineering class by 1982. The Fund informs the nation about business' commitment to the minority engineering effort. It encourages engineering schools to expand their minority enrollments. It offers supplemental financial assistance to qualified minority engineering students and uses this aid to motivate more minorities to enter engineering school. The Fund also sponsors the Summer Engineering Employment Project (SEEP) to introduce minorities to engineering career opportunities and to provide them with additional financial aid. To meet the enrollment parity goals for minorities in engineering, and to assist the expanding number of minorities prepared for engineering school by precollege programs, the Fund plans to continue to expand and to refine these projects.
