Success Model for Minority Engineering Programs

Abstract
Carnegie-Mellon University was one of the first universities to develop a supportive program for minorities interested in engineering education. CMU recognized that because it was a private, high cost university that certain members of our society would not be represented in significant numbers in its student population. To address this educational and social concern, the university developed a program to correct this imbalance and placate the cultural difference that exists when minorities attend White institutions.
