Abstract

The Committee on Minority Programs (COMP) has been charged by the Board of Direction to… “promote section and national activities that will encourage the education and training of disadvantaged minorities in engineering …, foster the employment of such minorities at all levels of skill…, and direct the expertise of engineers to the solution of the special economic and social problems faced by such minorities.” As part of their work in this direction, COMP has defined four goals which should command the attention of ASCE: (1) Education; (2) employment; (3) community service; and (4) ASCE membership.
