Nader's Raiders Versus California Water Project

In his sweeping attack on practically all facets of American life, Ralph Nader has investigated the California Water Project, and the philosophy, skill and motivations of those who made it possible. The paper considers the faults of the project. The news media, who no doubt were supposed to acclaim the report, discredited it as a colossal piece of impudence, a rehash, clothed in innuendo and distortion, of arguments thoroughly aired and laid to rest when the project was first discussed in hearings in Sacramento and Washington, or suggested that Nader broke his pick in the hard rocks of California. On balance, instead of rationing water while the system is being enlarged, California has secured its water supply well in advance. With its own financial resources it has completed facilities that will supply the needs of most Californians not just to 1990, but perhaps until the year 2020 or beyond.
