236 Housing—An Opportunity for Community Involvement

The Board of Direction of ASCE has established as a policy increased public affairs participation by the local sections of the society and by individual members. The Committee on Public Affairs recognizes that housing needs, individual orientations, and personal convictions will vary widely from section to section; and accordingly, we are not requesting that such a program be undertaken by all local ASCE groups, but rather we are presenting this as one desirable and viable opportunity for public affairs participation by ASCE groups acting through an ASCE-sponsored independent charitable foundation, or by individual members acting through other groups to which they may belong. Where the need exists, the opportunity to meet it is here! The time to act is now.
