Abstract
This publication is a guide to good Employer-Engineer relationships. It concerns factors peculiar to the employment of professionals, and omits most general precepts of personnel relations which are common to all classes of employees. These guidelines are applicable to the employment of engineers in all fields and in all areas of practice of the profession. While portions relate primarily to engineers qualified by the laws of one or more to the states to use the title Professional Engineer, they will serve as a guide for the employment of all engineering personnel. The guidelines are based on the Code of Ethics, the Engineers' Creed and other publications of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Observance of the spirit of these guidelines by employers and engineers, insofar as practical, will minimize personnel problems and generate greater mutual respect for the needs of each participant.
