Abstract
Plastic cloth filters have been used in relatively small seawalls and revetments, and in conjunction with various types of retaining structures, to prevent leaks through joints, weepholes, etc., with excellent results over the past 15 years. Their use in conjunction with large stone seawalls now gives promise of retaining the material behind them more positively than has been possible with rock-product filters alone. Guidelines for the proper placement of the filter cloth and stone in such structures are presented.
