Elasto-Plastic Settlement of Rigid Footings

Abstract
A simple method of estimating elasto-plastic settlement of circular or annular centrally loaded footings is presented. The method incorporates the elasto-plastic behavior manifested through the contact pressures reaching yield value over certain regions of the footings. The results agree with those of finite element methods and experiments.
