Improved Strain Influence Factor Diagrams

Abstract
Studies by the writers have added further insight to the Schmertmann strain factor method for the prediction of settlement over sand. The writers now make suggestions for several modifications to the method that should usually result in improved vertical strain distribution and settlement predictions under long footings.
