Microwave Interference Detection of Subsurface Water
Publication: Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division
Volume 104, Issue 1
Abstract
This study is intended to evaluate the accuracy and feasibility of using radio wave interference at microwave frequencies to locate the depth to an underground water surface or water pocket. Due to the many variables involved, and a relatively low level of knowledge of microwave behavior in soil, it was felt that a controlled laboratory study should be the first phase, followed by field evaluation. This technical note presents the results of the laboratory feasibility tests.
