Abstract

The vane shear test was developed for measuring the in-situ undrained strength of soft sensitive cohesive soils. Disturbance during insertion, progressive failure during shear, and errors in the torque measured at ground level are some of the limitations of the vane test. Aas presented a method of determining the anisotropic strength variation. Sensitivity of the soils and rate effects have also been studied
