Abstract
Many analytic and finite element models are being developed to predict the soil structure interaction and the dynamic behavior of soil deposits and soil structures. In most cases, each method requires an evaluation of the stress-strain properties of the soil, commonly represented as a dynamic modulus, and a measure of the energy dissipation characteristics of the soil, represented by material damping values.
