Abstract
This paper presents laboratory data on lateral stress changes in dry sand in response to cycling of vertical and shear loads. Lateral stress is expressed in terms of the coefficient of lateral stress, K, which is the ratio of horizontal normal stress, ψh, to the vertical normal stress, ψv. The data show the variation of K with initial void raito, eo, vertical loading history, and shear loading history.
