Abstract
In order to improve driving safety during the lane changing process, a driving risk prediction method using physiological information is proposed. The average fixation duration, average saccade range, average heart rate, and related vehicle speed during the lane changing process were collected to predict driving risk. A hidden Markov model was proposed to connect the field observed physiological data and driving risk. The results of the proposed model indicate that the hidden Markov model can predict driving risk of the lane changing process based on the drivers’ physiological data. The proposed model can be utilized for developing the road active safety prevention system.
