Taxi Income Monitoring and Service Strategy Analyzing Using GPS Trajectory Data
Publication: CICTP 2019
Abstract
Taxis are one of the most important urban transportation modes. However, the loss rate of traditional taxi drivers has increased year by year largely come from the drivers working long time but earning little. To provide these drivers with enforceable measures to improve income level, taxi GPS data are used to calculate the average working hours and daily income so that drivers of different income levels can be screened and classified. Then, explanations for the income disequilibrium are given from service strategies of three respects: region Preferences strategy, empty cruising strategy, and route choice strategy. Finally, we categorize the income level with strategy behaviors, finding the prior strategy of low- and high- income drivers respectively. The results show that these strategies vary significantly in different income groups. The analysis conclusion can provide urban taxi drivers with good advice for improving income levels under the present condition.
