Research on the Influencing Factors of Behavior Patterns of Car-Sharing Users

Publication: CICTP 2019

Abstract

Based on Hangzhou “Chefenxiang” system, we carried out the behavior survey of car-sharing members by group sampling. The study found that the cost and the ease of use played the most important role on the decision to join the car-sharing system. Although the purpose of using car-sharing was mainly non-commuter traffic-oriented, commuter traffic still occupied a significant percentage. In addition, we summarized three categories of usage patterns: occasional commuting, working trip, and entertainment travel, from four dimensions of the car-sharing using frequency, the frequency changes of using cars, the car-sharing trip purpose, and the alternative travel modes. After that, we built a MNL model and identified five influencing factors, including the short trips on rest days and the satisfaction with the convenience of returning cars. Besides the three reasons of joining the system, the economic benefits, the joy of driving, and the high cost of car purchase, were also influential.
