Abstract
This paper investigates the multi-scale 3D display of the internal status of pavements based on building information modeling (BIM) technology. A 3D solid model of the pavement based on AutoCAD Civil 3D software was built to visualize the pavement internal quality status. The BIM based modeling software Revit was chosen as the development platform and C# programming language combined with Revit API was adopted to develop the visualization plug-in. Investigated pavement internal quality indices included pavement deformation (deflection, void, loose, and cracking), pavement response (structural bearing capacity, stress, strain, and material deterioration), environment (temperature and humidity), and nondestructive tests [ground penetrating radar (GPR) and ultrasonic wave]. This established visualization model could greatly improve the quality and efficiency of monitoring through interacting with the monitored information in the model.
