Subjective Driving Delay Threshold: A Comparative Study among Drivers with Different Personalities
Publication: CICTP 2019
Abstract
The aim of the study is to explore subjective driving delay threshold of drivers with different personalities after the implementation of a new traffic regulation in Kunming, which require vehicles must yield to pedestrians in front of the crosswalk. The descriptive statistical results indicate that drivers with choleric temperament have the shortest subjective driving delay threshold (6.7 s), and that drivers with phlegmatic temperament have the longest (8.1 s). The result of the sum rank test shows that there are statistically significant distribution differences among drivers with different personality types. Moreover, an ordered logistic model was performed to identify the influence of the demographic characteristics on drivers’ subjective driving delay threshold. The results demonstrate that gender, age, occupation, and annual household income have a significant impact on drivers’ subjective driving delay threshold.
