Abstract
Traffic congestion is becoming increasingly severe in cities all over the world. Therefore, it is essential to stabilize the status of traffic networks and inhibit the spread of traffic congestion. Urban road traffic is a complex network. In this paper, we applied complex network pinning control theory to study the signal control of urban road traffic networks. The purpose of the control is to keep the flow of a section near the expected equilibrium value. State equation of discrete time coupling network was established to construct controller with road segment as the basic unit. Then, the relationship between controller and green-light time was discussed to control signals at intersection. Finally, the trend of flow changes in each road segment under no control and under pinning control were compared to verify the effectiveness of the method proposed in this work.
