The Access Delay Model under High Access Volume

Abstract
To analyze the influence of access traffic flow on the main road traffic flow and provide the theoretical basis for traffic management at the access port, an access delay model is established based on the theory of traffic wave. Through the mathematical analysis of the model, it is found that “extra delay will occur when vehicles access continuously” and “the main road traffic flow delay will be minimum when it is travelling at critical speed.” Finally, the conclusions were verified by Vissim simulation.
