Abstract
Traffic queue spillback at intersections is one of the main causes of traffic congestion. In this paper, the ARRB model is used to optimize the signal timing of the Qinghua Road and Xueqing Road intersection in which spillback happened a lot in Beijing. Then, we design the trigger mechanism and operation mode of actuated control scheme, and a spillback prevention scheme is proposed based on this actuated control scheme. The scheme is applied to simulate by VisVAP and Vissim. Based on the delay, we can see that the actuated control can effectively restrain the occurrence of spillback phenomenon. This paper can provide a new way to prevent the spillback phenomenon.
