Abstract
Oedometer tests were performed on the reconstituted Wenzhou clay with different pore salt concentrations to investigate the influence of salt leaching on the compression behavior. The pore salt concentration of Wenzhou clay was adjusted using different concentrations of NaCl solutions. It is observed that the e-logσv’ compression curves of the reconstituted clays with a higher salinity always lie above those with a lower salinity. As the salinity increases, the compression index increases, and the remoulded yield stress decreases. In addition, Burland’s concept of the intrinsic compression line is adopted for correlating the compression curves of the reconstituted clays with different pore salt concentrations. The intrinsic compression parameters of e100* and Cc* increase with the increase in the pore water salinity.
