River Water Pollution Modeling under Climate Change in Kura-Araks Basin for Watershed Management.

Publication: World Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2010: Challenges of Change

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to present a dynamic model to predict trends of future metal contents. We use stratification of different environmental compartments which are presented by aggregated blocks. The influence of local peculiarities of river watershed and industrial sites should be averaged to be reflected in model parameters. We assess the levels of cooper and zinc based on data regarding average values of mentioned metals observed for three years. One of main issues of studying the water chemical composition in a system with spatial heterogeneities and several sources of pollution is defining local parts with almost equal conditions. The model system for a local part can be brought to the form that is described by coupled oscillators as well. Coupled oscillators interact via mutual adjustment of their amplitudes and phases. Synchronization results from mutual adjustment of oscillators that gives rise to a common dynamical behavior.
