Abstract
Under its municipal stormwater permit, the Los Angeles County Flood Control District (LACFCD) conducts a monitoring program to assess impacts of urban runoff to receiving waters within Los Angeles County. The LACFCD's storm water monitoring program collects samples from seven mass emission stations represents all the pollutants collected in runoff within a major watershed. For the LACFCD, expanding the monitoring locations within the tributary channels of each major watershed provides vital information to identify areas subject to greater pollutant loading, prioritize locations for local agencies to implement corrective actions such as Best Management Practices, and demonstrate the effectiveness of corrective measures implemented. In order to help overcome such challenges, the LACFCD is developing a countywide monitoring program to aggressively monitor the water quality of discharges into the receiving waters within the County.
