Lock Approach Improvements at Lock and Dam No. 22, Upper Mississippi River

Abstract
This report is an overview of the models and guidance used to design navigation improvements for the approach to Lock 22. Two major issues for L&D 22 are hazardous outdraft currents and barge traffic delays. The frequent nature and severity of these problems has caused a desire to improve the safety and efficiency of the system. As a result, many hydraulic engineering (and other) studies have been conducted since the early 1990's.
