Abstract
The Generalized Environmental Modeling System for Surfacewaters (GEMSS) is being used to create a three-dimensional hydrodynamic and transport model of the North Basin of the Wachusett Reservoir, located in central Massachusetts. GEMSS computes time-varying velocities, water surface elevations, and water quality constituent concentrations in rivers, lakes, reservoirs, estuaries, and coastal water bodies. A three-dimensional grid has been created for the GEMSS model. Boundary conditions will be added to the model by incorporating output from a prior two-dimensional model for the entire reservoir.
