Abstract
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) intends to construct a Deep Geologic Repository (DGR) at a depth of about 680 meters at the Bruce site near Tiverton, Ontario. The facility would safely dispose of Low and Intermediate Level Waste (LLW and ILW respectively) from OPG-owned nuclear generating stations in emplacement rooms that are constructed in a geologically stable argillaceous limestone. This paper describes the use of reliability methods to estimate emplacement room-and-pillar dimensions and construction costs for the DGR.
