Unique Requirements of Building Information Modeling for Cast-in-Place Reinforced Concrete

Publication: Computing in Civil Engineering (2007)

Abstract

This paper presents an overview of a specification for a Building Information Modeling (BIM) tool for cast-in-place reinforced concrete, covering engineering, construction planning and placement. It emphasizes the differences between site placed RC modeling from the already developed modeling tools for steel and precast concrete. The differences include physical characteristics, structural connections, production planning and support for on-site dynamic adjustments.
