Sorption-Induced Swelling of Tire-Derived Aggregate: Experimental Study
Publication: Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering
Volume 25, Issue 9
Abstract
This paper documents experiments conducted to examine the time-dependent, one-dimensional swelling response of loaded granular packs composed of metal-free tire-derived aggregate (TDA) inundated with organic liquids. The results indicate that the magnitude and rate of sorption-induced swell are dependent on the fluid type and on the stress imposed at the time of inundation.
