Solutions to Rectangular Sluice Gate Flow Problems
Publication: Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering
Volume 141, Issue 12
Abstract
This paper provides direct solution or iteration procedures to the following four types of submerged flow problems for rectangular sluice gates: (1) find discharge per unit width () for given gate opening (), gate upstream water depth (), and tailwater depth (); (2) find for given , , and ; (3) find for given , , and ; and (4) find for given , , and . The paper also provides procedures to distinguish flow state (free flow or submerged flow) for given values of three of the four variables (, , , and ).
