Notice of Redundant Publication for “${\mathrm{CO}}_2$ Sequestration and Enhanced Shale Gas Recovery by ${\mathrm{CO}}_2$ Injection: Numerical Simulation Method” by Grant Charles Mwakipunda, Edwin E. Nyakilla, Jennifer Sanford, and Fravian Mwizarubi

After publication in the Journal of Energy Engineering (Vol. 148, Issue 2), the authors of “${\mathrm{CO}}_2$ Sequestration and Enhanced Shale Gas Recovery by ${\mathrm{CO}}_2$ Injection: Numerical Simulation Method” requested that their paper be retracted based on data-processing software errors. The paper was retracted, and then it was brought to our attention that the article contained major redundancies from a previously published master’s thesis, “Numerical Study of Enhanced Shale Gas Recovery by Using Gas Injection,” by Asia Majid. The published paper did not mention or cite the thesis.

ASCE investigated and concluded that the authors are in violation of ASCE’s policy on prior publication and overlap. The authors have apologized for the improper use of published works.
