2010 Best Paper Award
Publication: Journal of Professional Issues in Engineering Education and Practice
Volume 137, Issue 3
I would like to announce the Best Paper Award winner from our four 2010 issues. The Best Paper Award goes to Francis E. Griggs, for his paper “Joseph B. Strauss, Charles A. Ellis, and the Golden Gate Bridge: Justice at Last,” April 2010, Vol. 136, No. 2, pp. 71–83. Other nominations included “Classroom Activities to Illustrate Concepts of Darcy’s Law and Hydraulic Conductivity” by Roseanna M. Neupauer and Norman D. Dennis and “Cultivating Research and Information Skills in Civil Engineering Undergraduate Students” by Adjo A. Amekudzi, Lisha Li, and Michael Meyer from the January 2010 issue; “Model of Integrating Humanitarian Development into Engineering Education” by Bernard Amadei and Robyn Sandekian from the April 2010 issue; and “Program Assessment and Evaluation Using Student Grades Obtained on Outcome-Related Course Learning Objectives” by Greg Mason and Jeff Dragovich from the October 2010 issue. I encourage you to dig out your issues and reread these fine papers. The quality of our journal depends on the quality of author submissions, and manuscripts of this caliber provide a valuable service to the profession.
