Special Publication Series: 60th Anniversary

Publication: Journal of Environmental Engineering
Volume 142, Issue 10
It is with great pleasure and pride that we embark on a special publication series in the Journal of Environmental Engineering. In 1956, publications in the Transactions of ASCE were reorganized into separate journals for the various ASCE divisions. One of those was the Journal of the Sanitary Engineering Division, which was subsequently renamed the Journal of Environmental Engineering. Consequently, our Journal celebrates its 60th birthday this year, and we continue to proudly serve the professional community with our publication of advanced research and applications of importance.
In honor of this momentous occasion, we have undertaken the publication of a series of invited papers on a variety of subjects. These papers will appear throughout the year in connection with our monthly issues and will be prominently recognized with each such issue.
Today, we publish the first two manuscripts in the series: “Decision Support Models for Assessing the Impact of Aquaculture on River Water Quality” by Raymond P. Canale and Steven C. Chapra and “Reflection on Molecular Approaches Influencing State-of-the-Art Bioremediation Design: Culturing to Microbial Community Fingerprinting to Omics” by Lauren M. Czaplicki and Claudia K. Gunsch.
I am sure you will appreciate the work presented in these manuscripts, and there are several more to come. Upon completion of the series, the papers will be assembled in a special online collection that will be open access for one year. We hope you enjoy the work presented by these outstanding scholars and fine authors.
