University of Nebraska Architectural Engineering Summer Internship Course: Case Study

Abstract
This paper describes the 3-credit summer internship course, AE 8050 Internship in AE. AE 8050 Internship in AE is a required course in the ABET-Accredited Master of Architectural Engineering curriculum at the University of Nebraska. During their internship, students are required to conduct 10 interviews with company employees on specific topics associated with the business aspects of the company. The course culminates in student internship presentations prior to the Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction Career Fair in the fall. This paper discusses the motivation, history, current practice, assessment, and further development and expansion of the Internship in AE course in the Durham School.
