Making Things Better

Publication: Leadership and Management in Engineering
Volume 2, Issue 3

Abstract

An engineer and political insider exhorts his fellow engineers to get off the sidelines and into the fray. A typical day in the life of a state senator in Texas is described to illustrate the many demands made on politicians and to underline their need for advice on technical issues. The many contributions that engineers can make to the political process are described, but the author sees no substitute for direct involvement.
