Publication: Practice Periodical of Hazardous, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste Management
Volume 12, Issue 3

New Manuscript Submission Requirements

All manuscripts submitted to the Practice Periodical of Hazardous, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste Management should be accompanied by a list of four potential reviewers that are suggested by the author(s). This list should include the complete name, address, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address of each reviewer and a list of at least five keywords that identify each reviewer’s area of expertise reviewer. The periodical is not obligated to use all or any of the recommended reviewers; however, we feel that this policy will lead to an improved review process.
As we transition to our new electronic system, Editorial Manager, in the next month, all new submissions for these special issues should be uploaded to this system. Please visit the Journal’s Web site for more information about this change and links to the online submission/review system.

Special Issues

We have dedicated several issues to special topics in the past, and we plan to follow this practice in the future. The following topics are planned for future dedicated or special issues in the order listed: biofuels from waste; bioremediation; landfills and bioreactors; nanomaterials and nanotechnology; emerging contaminants of concern; use and effects of antibiotics in CAFOs; and health risk assessment.

Guest Editors

Dr. R. D. Tyagi is an internationally recognized professor with the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique–Eau, Terre et Environnement (INRS–ETE), University of Québec, Canada. He holds the Canada Research Chair on Bioconversion of wastewater and wastewater sludge to value-added products. He conducts research on hazardous/solids waste management, water/wastewater treatment, sludge treatment/disposal, and bioconversion of wastewater and wastewater sludge into value-added products. He has developed novel technologies of simultaneous sewage sludge digestion and metal leaching, bioconversion of wastewater sludge (biosolids) into Bacillus thuringiensis-based biopesticides, bioplastics, biofertilizers, and biocontrol agents. Dr. Tyagi has published/presented over 430 papers in refereed journals, conferences, and proceedings and is the author of 3 books, 36 book chapters, and 10 research reports and holds 9 patents.
Dr. Jonathan Wong is a professor in the Department of Biology at the Hong Kong Baptist University, where he has taught since 1992. He has served as an Editorial Board member and then as the Australasia Pacific Regional Editor of Environmental Technology since 2001. He received his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M. Phil. degrees in biology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and his Ph.D. degree in environmental science from Murdoch University, Western Australia. He is the director of the Applied Research Centre for the Pearl River Environment and Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre. He is also invited to be a visiting professor at Nanjing Agriculture University, China Agriculture University, and Shandong University. He has conducted research exploring the reutilization of organic wastes for land application, composting, and remediation of soils contaminated with PAHs, pesticides, and heavy metals. Dr. Wong has been a principal investigator or coinvestigator in projects worth more than $5 million and is the author or coauthor of over 235 SCI publications and conference presentations.
Dr. Satinder Kaur Brar is an assistant professor at the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique–Eau, Terre et Environnement (INRS–ETE), University of Quebec, Quebec, since June 2007. Brar received her M. Tech (Environmental Science and Engineering) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India. She worked as a scientist at the Defense Research and Development Organization, Ministry of Defense, India for two years. She earned her Ph.D. from INRS-ETE and later conducted her post doctoral research at McGill University for a brief time. Her research interests lie in the development of finished products (formulations) of wastewater and wastewater sludge-based value-added products. She is also interested in the fate of endocrine disrupter compounds, pharmaceuticals, and other toxic organic compounds during value-addition of wastewater and wastewater sludge and finding suitable biological detoxification technologies. Brar is the author or coauthor of 40 technical papers and 20 presentations.
