Two Roof Failures due to Water Ponding and Related Code Requirements
Publication: Journal of Performance of Constructed Facilities
Volume 3, Issue 3
Abstract
The causes of two roof failures are presented, along with interpretations of related code requirements. One roof collapsed as fire sprinkler water accumulated on the ceiling. The second roof collapsed as rain water accumulated behind perimeter scuppers. Examples also are developed to illustrate design procedures for each case.
